Default Hood Won't Secure

My hood will not secure down, the hood will close but remains lose as if the latch was pulled. Lucky it does not open fully but everytime i am on the highway it comes loose and the alert goes off. Is there anything i can try before i take it to the dealer?

Maybe the latch or cable is broken? No accidents or damage? nothing blocking the hood? rags or tools

My car is going to the dealer for this issue. The entire hood latch is FULL of rust. Additionally the spring inside there has been stretched and without replacing it will eventually break.

Lexus could have treated these parts with anti corrosion but failed to do so correctly. Gladly I still have a warranty.
