I installed a power tap on my mirror to Power the Escort radar detector I use in my RX. The cable I used is available here on Amazon for $15.



"Mirror Tap" is a company that is better known for these connectors, but this one works just as good. I used a "Mirror Tap" on my other vehicle and the "Radar Mount" product is the same, except its $15 cheaper. *The Mirror Tap is $30.

The wires are not color coded, so I used my electric meter to figure out the voltages.
I removed the connector from my mirror in to make installing the wire easier. Attached are a few pictures for your enjoyment.
The red wire is +12V, the black wire is -12V.

Its a 2007 with 106K on it and had it only a month. I'm getting used to it before making any mods to it.

 

These work great. Have one in each car making it easy to move detector when needed. Beats the direct wire to fuse box setup I had in the past. Highly recommend.
