RX330 Non-HID Conversion to Xenon HIDs
I have purchased a set of a HID Conversion kit, for my non-HID RX330 and am about ready to do the DIY (for the Low Beam). It appears to be a very simple switch over. I will take pics along the way. Anybody’s done this before and have a tip or 2 to share?
I will have to bore a 1” hole through the Dust cover for this conversion. I also have identified a neat location for the ballast. And then it is pretty much plug and play.
FYI, the Low Beam is an H11.

mandyfig: Installation on a Lexus, such as the RX is pretty straight forward. Other than drilling the hole in the dust cover, you don't have to modify anything else. It would all be plug and play. Our kits, the bulbs have a rubber grommet you can use to seal the hole up in the dust cover afterward. If not using a relay, just be aware if the light doesn't come on when first installed to reverse polarity. That is a common issue on Lexus vehicles.

John thanks. I should have looked at kits from XenonDepot. I have other cars that need retrofitting, will check you out.

Done! Takes sometime to get into the groove of installing the bulb itself. Much better illumination. Should have done it a longtime ago.

I know people do it but putting a HID bulb in a non-projector headlight casing does not mask the top half of the beam that a "real" HID projector lamp does. As a result, the very bright headlight blinds the driver of the oncoming vehicle. This should be outlawed, IMHO.

I need to adjust the beam spread, I kind of feel the same. I cursed on people who have done that and I will not be one of them. I will adjust my beams to make it lower.
I will do a before and after as well.

I guess you can improve it by lowering the beam. When I converted mine, I first went with the eagle eye headlights from Amazon but I did not like the beam pattern (it was a semi-circle). Then I got an OEM pair from craigslist for cheap because it had condensation and repaired it. Has been working perfectly and the beam pattern is a wide rectangle, the way it's supposed to be.
