Default 04 RX330 - passenger mirror replacement options?

I need to replace the glass on my passenger side mirror.

I'm annoyed that you can't just buy the dimming/heated glass and replace it.

I can't find a used direct OEM replacement on ebay right now and no salvage area within a few hundred miles shows one available.

The housing is fine, everything functions fine, but the glass is ruined and in a brown-ish, constant dimmed state I guess.

If I buy one of the replacements that is "heated, w/o memory, w/o dimming" am I really going to miss those two functions?

I live in the south so the chances of me really needing heated mirrors are like twice a year, maybe.

The dimming function I wonder if I'll go crazy though with one mirror dimmed at night and the other not -- but then again -- this is the only car I've ever had that feature with so i can't miss it too much, right?

The memory function - I don't know if I understand what that means. What is the mirror remembering??

Anyway - any one have any thoughts on replacing it with one of these not quite the same mirrors on ebay?

Thanks!

I hope you get lucky as I did. What happened to your glass is the seal broke, allowing the liquid crystal to leak and now the glass appears to be 'dimmed'. I was fortunate that another forum member here had a set and he sold me the glass. Great guy to deal with. I think you will find that you will want both sides to have all the features. The memory is for the positions. If you set your seat position, it also includes the side mirrors' positions.

Looks like rockauto.com sells just the glass, that would be a cheap option.

You can just buy the heated/dimming glass. It's just a bit pricey. Here is a link to the OEM part. http://www.mylparts.com/parts/2006/L...&siteid=214992

or just stick some replacement mirror on top of your old ones !

That's what I did and it's working just fine.
No dimming, but it beats the ruined/brown-ish effect !

Here's the link where I bought mine. You can even choose flat/wide angle/aspheric...

Default Replacing 04 RX 330 side mirrors

I have purchased two after market side mirrors to replace the existing mirrors on my 04 RX 330. Before I tear apart the old mirrors, does anyone know if the outer housings can be used on the replacement mirrors? My old ones are silver and the new ones are black (unpainted). If I could switch the housings that would be great, but if not, I guess I'll have to have a paint shop paint the new ones to match.

I see you are new and this is your first post so welcome to Club Lexus!
If I can plz make a suggestion, after you install your new mirrors maybe drive around with them for 2 weeks.

At first it may look odd seeing them black and not painted but that may be only because you always seen them that way.
I never painted mine.

If you want me to I will take a pic so you can see but I think they look just fine being black in color but that's just me.
Cheers!
