2006 400H -- Should rear door open automatically after pressing rear manual button?
I'm selling my RX 400H and the buyer is negotiating hard. He says the rear hatch door should open automatically after he presses the rear manual button (above the license plate). On our car, you press the rear manual button then have to lift the rear door up most of the way. It does open and close automatically using the interior button and the remote button.
Also, our sunroof will not close automatically using the sliding switch. It has to be adjusted back and forth until it appears to be completely closed but we can't get an auto-close to happen.
Are both of these "flaws" actually personalized dealer settings that the previous owner set? (I'm the 2nd owner.) If he takes it to a dealer, can he have these settings set back to default?
Or does the rear door actually not open automatically using the manual rear button on a 2006 400H?

Pressing the remote button or the dash button opens the hatch automatically.
Standing at the gate with the key unlatches the hatch for you to lift manually.
Later years can be done both ways but the pre 2010's work like yours
The sunroof appears to need to be reinitiated. Simple for the shop to do, not
an owner operation to my knowledge.

Thank you!!! That PDF is exactly what I needed. And I'll let him know about resetting the moonroof.
So helpful -- thank you all!

Neither of these things justifies a price reduction.
From the other site:
Should be the same but here's the one for the 400h:

Also if you disconnect the battery (or run it down like I did), the sunroof will have to be normalized. You can tell if it needs to be normalized if the sunroof doesn't close properly when you use the tilt switch. If you have to kind of guess where closed should be you need to normalize it.
To normalize, push and hold the 'slide' switch toward the front. The sunroof will tilt (even though you are using the 'slide' switch) up and down then slide open and close. After it closes, release the switch. The sunroof will now work normally (i.e. it will know where it's supposed to close when you use the switches).

Pole Position
The moonroof just needs to be reinitialized. Really simple to do. With the ignition in the on position, push and hold the sunroof tilt button. The sunroof will tilt open, tilt closed, slide open and slide closed. Then you may release the tilt button and the sunroof will be reset.

So the rear liftgate doesn't open automatically if you use the rear button on the door, but will if you use the remote or the internal button?
Guess I will cancel my service appointment! LOL
