I have an issue with both of my outside mirrors. In warm temperatures my mirrors do not work, in cool temperatures my mirrors seem to work just fine. I did not know this was happening until last week when I was backing up. Usually both of my mirrors turn to the ground when go in reverse. So I noticed that they did not move. I started fiddling with the switch to test the functionality of the mirrors, as I was moving the switch I could see either mirror barely moving. The next day first thing in the morning when the vehicle was in the garage I started fiddling with the mirrors, they worked just fine until I drove outside and the car sat under the sun.
Is this an indication of lack of lubrication in the internal parts of the mirrors?. If so, is there a DIY in this forum that I can use to pop them open to spray them with WD40. Apparently the motor inside the mirrors still work but it takes a certain amount of force for me to move the mirrors even with my hands.
You might be able to find just the motors used...but not likely. You definitely cannot buy the motor by itself brand new. It comes from lexus as an all in one unit.
