Okay just recently I noticed when I put it in reverse the side mirrors tilted down. I never knew it could do this and never noticed it before so I kept testing it the other day by putting it in reserve than to drive than back and it kept doing it. But now it's not doing it anymore. Can someone please explain to me when they work and when not? Thanks in advance.

 

There are two big button on your door panel, next to where you adjust the side mirrors (up, down, right, left). If you press one of the button, it will light up. Now every time, you've it on reverse.. It should tilt your side mirrors.

 

Switch the mirror switch (L or R) to the other side...

 

You can actually adjust the level of tilt on both mirrors when you are reversing. Just put your car in reverse, make adjustments, and leave switch on L or R. It will remember to move the mirror(s) every time you put the car in reverse.

 

I find that there are times when I don't want the tilting, so it's nice to be able to turn it off. Also, unlike on my previous cars, as noted above, the position of each mirror can be set for the tilt position, which is a nice touch. This can make things confusing if the tilt position is not much different from the drive position.

I have had this feature on previous Lexus vehicles and I know that you have to choose L or R for it to work, My mirrors both jerk when I put the car in reverse but they don't move. How do I know If I actually have this feature and if there is a problem with them?

 

PAP: I think all Lexus cars have this feature. I have found that if a mirror gets manually pushed down or to the side (while washing, for example), then its range of motion by using the motor becomes limited, and the mirror will click against its end stop. This sounds like what you are describing, as the motor is trying to tilt the mirror down, but it is already down.
Try to align the mirror manually by gently but firmly pressing on the top third of the mirror, and see if it moves up a few stops. You will hear some clicks as it moves in that direction. Once you get the hang of this, you can learn where and how much pressure to apply to the face of the mirror to align it in its center position. From there, you can use the mirror buttons to fine tune the settings, and the tilt-down-in-reverse feature should work for you.
Of course, I could be wrong and trying this will crack the mirror and cause the housing to fall off its mount, but I like to live dangerously like that.

L or R enables the reversing position, center position disables the movement.
Pre 2014 Lexi mirrors went down an arbitrary few degrees
2014 and on allow the customization dchar described. You can now have
the passenger side go down and out and the driver's side just barely move.

Is this standard? I swear I tried playing with thethe switswitch and it didnt work on my rc200t (non F Sport). I was trying cuz I had a BMW 535i before my RC and the side mirror tilting down was a huge feature, especially when u have wheels!

 

A friend told me that works for Lexus that a way you can tell if you have this option is verifying that you have memory seats, and if you do then this option should be on your car.

 

PAPI007 is correct, the Auto Tilt Mirrors are part of the memory position option.
Relatively few RC's, IS's and NX's come through with that feature.
