Considering buying a new V6 Toyota AWD Venza after poor quality experience with a Canadian factory built 2004 Lexus RX 330 ( 2 Radiators, Water Pump, 2 rear wheel bearings, inoperative side view mirror + a paint issue) after 60K miles and all warrantee coverage expired. Begining to suspect all Toyota quality.

In process of researching the Toyota Venza for long term maintainence problems....Hope that Toyota quality hasn't slipped in their other models as well.

 

I dont necessarily find those things you mentioned major issues.

If you said tranny, oil leak, electrical etc, i would agree with you time to move on. Many issues are related to age of vehicle not mileage. You essentially have a ten yr old car. Things break, you will never escape that. Just remember all vehicles will have issues in their lifetime. I'd personally rather repair a toyota than a bmw or benz. Good luck on your search. I would suggest not ever buying a vehicle the first yr after its redesign.

 

Let's not generalize from insufficient data. The RX is still one of the highest rated cars in the world for build quality and customer satisfaction.

I understand how continued loyalty is posssible for the Lexus brand. I felt that way also after a great ownership experience with my 1998 GS400 which so far has been "bullet proof" regarding quality. Incidently, that was a first model year for the GS 400 and while trying not to be unpatriotic it is important to state that it was made in Japan.

My repair and parts replacement seems excessive for a vehicle with 60K miles so my comfort level with the RX quality is not where it should be. Maybe I'll be proven wrong or just unlucky if no other complaints of this nature appear on this forum.

 

I've had three RX's so far with varying degrees of mileage on them and the quality has been excellent, but as they age, there is fatigue. I've also had to replace a radiator and a few other trim parts as the car aged, but nothing serious. I did replace the water pump when i replaced the the timing belt at 60k miles as a precaution. In general. The quality on these cars is second to none. ( beats my Buick Enclave and my BMW hands down!!!)

 

It's not really a matter of "right" or "wrong" so much as a single data point being insufficient to define a trend (no matter what the topic).

 

RFC-I understand your point. I've had 2 Toyotas and 1 Lexus and the Toyotas are/were bulletproof, with only very minor issues. I inherited a RX and immediately had to replace the side mirror actuators which is more than I spent on both Toyotas total while I owned them.
That said if you are willing to get a Venza you still realize the quality in Toyota/Lexus. And I do too.
