power steering leak help!

Default power steering leak help!

all,

started d car today and whining noise from right wheel arc. Turned steering and whining noise got louder.
Checked power steering fluid and is low. Checked bottom of car i can see oil leek sign below pulleys. Top up PS fluid. Noise gone during idle but still whines when turning steering wheel.
Anyone know what is the problem? Pump?

Please do a search using your thread title. Tons of threads on this. Your steering rack is leaking because of a torn boot. I would see if a flush fixes the whine. If the leak is really bad you'll have to change the rack.

Thanks a lot...
Went out to check the car again. Top up the fluid second time and seems like its ok now but noticed a severely corroded tube, which looks like part of the power steering system. see 1st photo (photo taken looking towards front right wheel from bottom of car) Photo 2 taken from top of engine (arrow indicate leak pipe). I think this is where the leak comes from.
Can this be replaced locally? Its not dripping but you can see stain around the pipe, must have happened for a while but i didnt notice until the fluid is lower than required level...
Any Temporary fix? (Xmas break no garage will be open for a while). Can I seal it with something? Exhaust pipe seal?

Take a look behing front passenger tire towards front of engine. You can see the boot this way. Your looking for...

thanks Alchemist. Checked the whole rack, both boots look ok. Only oil stain i could find is around the down pipe from the reservoir to the rack. It is badly corroded with oil all around. Really hope its not the pinion rack.

top off the reservoir, spray the crap out of the down tube with brake cleaner, check weekly. If still leaking yes you can replace that tube.

need new line. Local shop fabricated one no problem, line was badly corroded

garage checked mine. Yes, new line required. ordered from Dealer...
