Side mirror keeps adjusting when in reverse
I just noticed last week that my side mirror keeps adjuting when I put it in reverse. It's like click, click, click, and it keeps going until it finally just stops. It just started a week ago? Any ideas?
its an automatic feature to point down when you put it into reverse to help you see curbs, etc.
yeah happened to me, specially during winter. I used silicon oil for it and it fixed it. i don't know if lithium grease would be good for the plastic/rubber components so stayed away.
DO NOT KEEP TRYING TO GET IT FIXED BY ADJUSTING IT MANUALLY.

If you want to disable it, just make sure that the mirror switch (the one to select Left or Right) is in the middle (i.e. centred). This will stop the mirror from "dipping" (as it is called) when the car is put in reverse. I use it all the time when I am reverse parking etc. If you want the mirrors to dip again, just flick the switch to Left or Right and it will do it again.
I always try moving the mirror all the way up til it starts clicking, then down, then left, then right. Now set the mirror where you want it and reset the seat memory. This resets the mirror limits and re-establishes its normal position. Works for me.
Suggestion:
If for example it is maxing out on the downward, bump your mirror upward a few clicks, do it softly, you will hot hurt the mirror. Then try again. It should take care of it.
Do it on whatever direction it is maxing out. Normally it is the downward stroke.
Good luck.
