Default Front Bumper Fasteners

While taking a peek under my RX330 this morning I noticed that the bolts holding on the under tray just aft of the bumper cover were a bit rusted and that I was actually missing a couple from services over the years.

Here is what I am talking about. This one is dead center:

When I took it out to see what I could match it to this is what I saw:

I thought I could replace it with a 1/4"-20 x 1/2" flange bolt, however, while it is of the same size and thread pattern it does not ratchet in smoothly. So, decided not to force the matter and post here for suggestions. The original is slightly tapered at the end which I think makes a difference as you might see from the photo.

This is what I was trying to use:

Does anyone know what exactly what this bolt is they are using and where I might find some to replace the ones I have and to install for the missing? My reference manual just says "bumper fastener."

Input is greatly appreciated.

Shouldn't the bolt be metric?

Yes, however, I have not located anything metric even close. The 1/4" is an almost identical size and I can use my 10mm wrench on it. When I tried a fitment guide/template with the original bolt the best one it fit for size and thread pattern was the one I indicated.

I almost never mention this because of what you may have to pay for a few bolts: "DEALERSHIP"

I have a trip planned on Wednesday which takes me past a Lexus dealer I use from time-to-time. Hoping to find out something in advance.

I think it is part number 90119-06687, however, I cannot find any specs for it.

Any real hardware or auto parts store should be able to find the exact bolt.

Not Lowe's.
Not HomeDepot.
Not Advance Auto Parts.

Closest I found was the 1/4"-20 x 1/2" flanged bolt. Lowe's and HomeDepot had in zinc while Advance Auto Parts had the one I listed above in black. Nothing else was close and nothing close in metric.

Home Depot has metric bolts. Did you bring the bolt and hand over to a Home Depot associate?

Yes. And when we used the fitment guide, as previously noted, we settled on what I mentioned previous.

When the fitment did not go as hoped I tried again at the other places to the same end.

Could it be that the bolt you took out was not an original? Hence it was English?

1/4X20 is real close to a M5. There are several different thread pitch for a M5, 1, 1.25, and I believe another one. I work at HD and we carry those in SS. Talk to an asso. who knows what he's talking about and check carefully....Tom

It is original. There are enough of these in place to indicate such.

10mm and 1/4 are very close. My guess is that the bolt is one similar to those I have found but in a metric size that is not common in small quantities. Perhaps specific for automotive use and/or Toyota use. Perhaps something found in a Dorman Tech Tray only available to dealers. If I found a Bolts-R-Us store it might be easier to find. Not much in my area other than big box.

I am getting closer, however...

Have not been able to match anything the catalogs like it with the specs approximating an M6 x 20mm bolt with a 20mm washer.

I found some metric bolts at a REAL hardware store the old time type, Ace hardware owned by a family for over 35 years. They have bins full of all type and size bolts an nuts. No offense to HD people but that is not a real hardware store. Always try the bolt on a nut that your bolt fits they should have both. Fit your bolt to a nut then buy a bolt that fits that nut.
