Default AFS Warning light blinking

The AFS warning light on the dash of my 2005 RX-330 is blinking. I would like to discuss this with someone who might know the exact cause.

When I start the car and the xenon headlights light up, they go through their normal sequence of panning and leveling. But they no longer turn when I turn the steering wheel like they are supposed to. This problem was interrmittent but now seems to be a permanent problem. As I'm driving, the lamp level also lowered such that I had to pull over, shut the car off and restart it in order to get them to come back up to the right level.

I'm handy and can probably fix this myself once I know what the cause of the problem is and what part to buy.

I am sure the AFS switch is in the ON position.

Thanks for your help.

probably the sensor under the vehicle by the r/r wheel either needs to be cleaned,or died. Either way an easy fix. (if thats the problem) I had to clean my old 2001 RX`s one time. Always worked great after that.

I dunno about the sensor, I know for fact after installation of my new retrofit on my RX400 that there are 2 plugs going to the headlights in order for AFS to work 1 plug to side of the low beam is for vertical adjustment, the rear is for horizontal adjustment. Chances are the connections becomes dirty or loose that it's should be a simple fix. All it takes is one connector not to be connected and you will get a AFS off and blinking light on the dash. I know because I saw this in person.

Fixed my issue. Light was blinking and the aim seemed high while driving. Cranked the aim down to a reasonable level and no more blinking light. Must be some sensor detecting where exactly the light is pointing. My problem occurred after I installed new hid bulbs and had the headlight fixture removed from the vehicle.

That might have been something worth knowing up front.

I'm gonna second lexus114 and say it's the sensor at the back of the vehicle.
