Default 2004 RX330 Insurance Rate Increase

I noticed that my auto insurance for my 2004 RX330 actually increased this year. When I called my agent, she explained that the cost increased based on industry data showing that the cost to repair and replace parts for this make and model vehicle had gone up. I wondered if anyone else has seen their insurance costs go up and been told this was the reason. Btw, I live in Southern California, my insurance is State Farm and I have never filed I claim and I have a perfect driving record.

Possibly due to the plant problems in Japan. Let me make a comment about your insurance company. My RX300 was recently totaled and the person at fault was insured by State Farm and it couldn't have gone more smoothly.

Super efficient staff, no arguments over the value of my car, they took the low mileage and superb condition of the car into consideration and gave me a very fair settlement with which I bought my 330.

It's hard to hide the corporate culture when you are in the trenches on a loss and SF is top quality. Hope you never find out though.

When I had my RX330 my rate actually dropped once and stayed flatline, however I am insured by Mercury.

Mine had gone up as well. Also with State Farm. Checked with them after seeing your post and was told basically the same thing though was also told that costs in FL went up pretty much across the board regardless of make and model. Trying to remember if there were any inserts which came with my last statement which discussed this matter.

I will second that with my RX300 as I have a clean record and also my rates with USAA went up slightly. I thought it might have been due to hurricane coverage (something I have seen cause a rate increase before), but heard same thing.

Funny thing was when I lived in Mexico, the insurance rate there goes by how much you want to insure the vehicle for and it is a percentage based on that amount that you pay with an added amount based on your driving history. So as the value of my vehicle went down over the years, my rates decreased.

One of my neighbors has an RX330 and I swore she told me the same thing about a bump not too long ago.

My rates declined by a small amount for each of the last two years. I am insured by the Automobile Club of Southern California. I have had nothing but good service by this company.

Btw I pay about US$2000 per year for a full coverage incl everything what ever it might be that happen to the vehicle, me or a third party. My deductible is $200. The cost would prolly be 30-50% lower if I lived in another part of the country and not in the city.

@Carver, I think you might be right about the collision parts shortage from Japan, (radiators, condensers, headlights, etc.), that might be a reason. However I work for Lexus largest supplier and none of our plants in Japan suffered any damage. Other suppliers were not so lucky.
@Rainbird, I am a Auto Club member and I am thinking about getting a quote from them that also includes my homeowners insurance. I have read good things about their low cost and service. I am already a AAA member. Thanks for the good idea.
@Peterf, I have full coverage with a US$1,000 annual deductible. My total cost per year is approximately US$720. I live in in the Los Angeles area so I'm sure the costs are higher here than other parts of the U.S.
