Default 2009 RX 350 transmission shift points

I just purchased a 2009 Lexus RX 350 three days ago. When should the transmission shift into 5th gear? It does not shift into 5th at 40 or 45 mph. On the freeway, it was in 5th at 65. The owner's manual does not list shift speeds. The 2005 RX I had shifted into 5th at a lower speed.

Thanks!

On my 2007 RX 350, I have to be over 45 and light on the gas before it shifts into 5th.

Welcome nmtomcat!

I'd say the shifting depends more on how the RX was driven before you bought it. The trans learns from driving patterns. Maybe the person who drove it before had a lead foot Take it easy for a while and see if it relearns.

the dealer can reset it or you can disconnect you battery for ten minutes. remember that you will have to reset everything else when you reconnect including your radio code. make sure you read up on everything before you do it.

Thanks for the replies. I ended up taking it to the Lexus dealer, and they reflashed it.

This^^^ I'd also check the dipstick that its up to the top mark as well as when the trans fluid & filter was changed & since your there great time to change the transfer case (ptu) fluid.
