Default Sticky Center Console Cupholder Lid

I have a heck of a time getting the center console cupholder lid to pop up. I have to poke it repeatedly before it opens. Does anyone have any ideas for how to fix this?

Mine used to work fine until I removed it to get some stuck change out. Since I put it back it has been "stuck" and takes some good solid poking to get it to open. I think I may have to reseat (or realign) the gears that hold this in place.

Thw wife 08 RX350 was having issues with the lid as well. I finnally got fed up one day I was driving the wifes RX and while I was sitting in the car waiting for her at a store, I dove into it and turned out to be a dime had fallen down the space between the console and the lid when it was open. Sometimes it wouldnt open and at times it would get stuck mid way through opening/closeing. But once I got the dime out its been fine since. Dont remeber exactly what i used to get it out, but it was something in the car at the time. Im thinking possibly my disabled placard that hangs on the rearview mirror, the keys, and a flashlight. Hope this helps

I think I will plan to remove the centre console again over the weekend and see if I can get mine to be smooth again. Hate stabbing it to get it open.

I haven't looked at what it takes to get into the hinge of the lid. Is it very complicated or time consuming?

To get to the actual hinge part of the lid is relatively easy. The annoying part though, is that you have to remove the centre console completely to get to the screws that allow you to get behind that hinge. The cavity is at the very front of the console, however the screws that hold it in place are inside the console and you can not get to them from the top. It would take about 30 minutes to get out of the car if you have never done it before, and probably about 10 minutes (at a slow pace) to get to the part behind the lid (when I originally did it I found $2-$3 worth of coins making metallic noises when ever I braked a bit too hard on the car when I first got it).

I found the article on the web and not sure if I can upload it here or not. I will have to check, or just make a DIY article for it. I would hopefully be doing it sometime this weekend.

its weird because i have to almost pull it back with my finger while pressing the lid to make it open. Have checked the hooks they seem to be fine with no warping. Any thoughts?

Have a the same issue. I don't think it has anything to do with something being stuck. Is it magnetic? It just doesn't want to release. I have to keep pushing it and then it finally just opens up.

Ideas?

Reposting again to see if anyone else has had this issue, or more importantly found a fix to it.

Bump, same issue here..
*EDIT* Just found
I'm not sure if this is the same issue causing my problem, but it very well might be.
Wish there was a less involved way to check and fix it..
