Default HELP....sun roof won't close

I am having trouble to close my sunroof.

when the sunroof reach the point where it press down the front wind deflector part (80% closed) it reopens. I used some wd40 but it still won't close.

For now I have to push the button to close the sunroof bite by bite or hold down the wind deflector and risk losing my finger.

Any way to fix this?

Thanks

Are you doing a single press and release of button or are you holding the button down?

Did you disconnected the battery power or pulled a fuse for couple of minutes?

Sometime the sunroof just loose it's memory settings. You have to reset it. You can do a search around on how to reset it or look in the manual. I remember something along the line of pulling the switch all the way back hold it there - let the sunroof open all the way, then closes and tilt then closes. Eventually, there's a beep sound to let you know it reset then let go of the switch.

The problem is not with the auto close (one touch) memory.

The sun roof of our lexus RX has a pinch proof feature. What it is is when the power sun roof senses there the a resistance then it stops closing and reopens.

My problem is the sun roof is having a hard time pushing down the wind deflector when it is about 80% closed and it reopens.

I tried to use wd40 on the hinges of the wind deflector but the sun roof still finds that is too much resistance and reopens.

What can I do next?

Right ... but there comes a time when the pinch protection needs to be reprogrammed. Granted there can be a real problem as well.

If you haven't yet figured this out your have to hold the unlock button (on the remote) till the moonroof and all the windows fully open up... This should fix the problem.

I had exactly same problem. Symptoms exactly same.
only way to close it was bi inching the roof forward bit by bit.
Advice given in this forum fixed it. Just open all windows, sit in the car, turn it on and hold the close button in the "close" position until the roof closes. Keep button in close position and eventually it opens again. Keep holding button in closed position till it closes again. I didn't hear any beeps to confirm a reset, but it now works fine and also works when activated by key fob.

Success!! - V Happy
