Default RX350 Antenna

Anyone know anything about repairing/replacing the antenna? A parking garage arm came down on my car and the antenna is broken. Wasn't sure if this could be a do it yourself project or the costs associated. Thanks for any help!!

The service manual shows you how to replace the antenna. I do not think it is a big deal.

To get to the antenna, you will have to take down the roof headliner. And there's a nut that holds the antenna. See attached.

Here's the headliner assy. You will have to remove all the trims and garnish that cover the headliner. A lot of work to get to the antenna. Sorry.

Did it break the arm or the base? If it's the arm then it's a simple screw on/off to replace. If it's the base then see mandyfig's post above.

I snapped off my mast during the night recently with a snow shovel. Found a replacement mast on ebay for $17.

The only problem, the threaded part of the mast broke off and was inside of the base part that remained on the roof. Needle nose pliers would not fit in between the metal shell and the threaded part to allow me to unscrew it.

Luckily, it was not stuck in there. I took a sharp nail, jammed it by hand into the flat top of the threaded part, and was able to "dial" it out counterclockwise.

Was worrying about going to the stealership and for a $700 "repair"

You are lucky that nail trick worked. They sell a inexpensive tool called an "easy-out" that is made just for this sort of thing.

Yes, I was amazed it was not stuck in there tight. Out in the elements for 3 years and it backed right out.

Every once in a great while, you can get a break!

I don't think you would need to completely remove the headliner. First try removing the upper half of the rubber seal of the lift-gate opening, then pop out the few clips on the rear edge on the headliner. You will be able to stick your hand into the gap between the roof and the headliner.

Some time ago I had rattle in that area, I was able to gt in there and secure a loose relay right next the antenna.

Hi there, I was wondering if there were some specifics on how to remove the upper half of the rubber seal. I'd like to attempt this repair without removing the entire headliner if possible. Dealership wants $800 for what amounts to about a $20 part.

Default Antenna base cost

The dealership charged 260.00 for the base. Is there no aftermarket place to get those? That's ridiculous.

These run about 100 at beatsonicusa.com. As long as the antenna wire is accessible this fin can be attached to it.
