Sunvisor issue

Sunvisor issue
Wife just drove our '04 home from the dealer, and on the way, putting the visor down noticed it wouldn't hold it's position against the windshield. Then trying to put it back up, it now makes a "pop" and doesn't have enough tension to hold itself against the ceiling. It kind of flops down about an inch or so.
Any ideas? I popped the cover off on the mount but the mount is tight. Problem sounds and feels like it's inside the visor itself where the rod goes through. My guess is there's some type of spring that may have broken.
Anyone know how to remove the rod from the visor to check it out?
