Default Radio Console Not Responding.

We have a 2004 RX330 and for the past couple of days our radio console has stopped responding. Almost all the buttons don't respond aside from the volume and station ****. There are times when the buttons will start working but than the issue reappears.

We've considered getting a double din setup, but we were told that it isn't possible if you already have an OEM Navigation. I've tried searching throughout the threads to see if anyone has experienced any issues related to ours but I've had no luck.

Could anyone chime in on what would be best for us to do? Is it worth having the radio inspected and fixed by an independent professional or are we better off buying a completely new console?

Thanks in advance!

Does it still respond to the steering wheel controls? Here is an outfit that fixes Lexus stereos:

Hi, I'm having the EXACT same problem as you in my 2009 RX 350. I just bought the car a month and a half ago, and twice yesterday the radio display and buttons stopped working except for the volume and radio ****. The first time it happened, the stereo was still functional by using the navigation display. However, during the second time, later that day, it appeared as though the whole radio stopped working. But as mysteriously as the it stopped working, it started working again.

My car is still under warranty, but I'm curious as to why this is happening, and what should I tell the dealer since it's so intermittent (they might not be able to replicate the problem).

Did you find out what caused your issue?? I have not replaced the battery, nor have I had any work done on the console (and I don't think the dealership had any done either, in the year that they owned the car). I would love to know what you found out before I call the dealer.

Thanks.

Yes it can be done

If you have Navi, this is what I have done
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/hyb...-and-more.html

If you don't have Navi ( photos are no longer available on the thread )
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...ash-nav-2.html

Check out BeatsonicUSA they have the double din bezel you need to put a new doubledin in
and the necessary amp adapters that you can tap the new deck into factory amp.

Here is a list from beatsonicusa.com

Hope this helps

Did that for 5 minutes, no help. Disconnected all the plugs, no help. Before i disconnected the battery, my vaistech was still playing in a moderate level..after battery disconnect now its all very silent..and i cant do anything, buttons (fm, am, disc, tape) on the radio do not work at all, also the tune and the sound/on/off switch do not work.
fuses are good. how is the power supply? from the radio 1 fuse to the amplifier to the radio unit?
i can try it longer tomorrow, but i did not have a lot of time today...

Issue fixed itself, drove to work this morning, radio did nothing...started it to the way home and it worked again...
Propably have to do something on the amp soon, but let's see if it comes back.
