Default Need help with part

I was doing a sat radio install on my friend's 09 RX350 today and snapped this plastic bezel pictured below. The instructions said pull up on bezel to remove wood, so I did and it snapped! I called the dealer and they told me that it is part of the wood assembly and can only be purchased with the wood for $920!!!! I don't need the wood. It is perfect.
This is the wood surround/bezel that goes around the shift ****/gear selector, below the lighter socker/seat heater/headlamp washer wood. Can anyone help me out? Anyone know where I could get just this plastic for a reasonable $20-50? You can see the crack at left.

Hmm, test drive a used clone and switch out at home? Just an idea, just saying.

I've used gorilla glue on a outside mirror frame & then cut off the excess & painted it black & it works great. On a '09 Lexus it would see if I could get it covered under warranty because it just cracked one day before I would use any glues/etc.

If you use glue, make sure it does not ooze out and cause a bump in the inner groove. If it does, the wood would not seat in the groove.... you will have to file the wood or the excess glue.

Incidentally, when the dealership seemingly overcharge, they are building reserves for similar accidents. It is not pure profit.

Also check salvage yards. There is a three letter acronym firm which deals with lots of RX stuff and sells it on ebay. If I recall their name, I will edit this post.

Where are some salvage yards? It just won't look good glued and I'll end up having to replace the wood because the glue will ooze out onto it. I could try the warranty claim option. I think it would get denied, but worth a try.

The plastic insert should be removable ....[based on gs insert experience]

The part is referred to as "gear shift bezel" ... confirm with Dealership. Also see if they can special order it all the way from Japan as apposed to stocked part at distribution center.

The bezel is easily removable. It is isn't glued or clipped. I got the parts sheet and was able to narrow down the part I wanted with dealer. They can't order the plastic alone because there isn't a part number for it. It just says assembly.

I looked at the back of the wood and it says made in Germany and there is a website and phone number listed. I'm not sure if they made the plastic bezel too or not.

LKQ online. is the salvage company.

The plastic insert should have molded part number on it.

Instead of individual parts at times the dealership stocks assemblies. It might be worth calling various dealerships and see if they will special order the part only.

I have one that I would sell you for $50. But I don't know how to go about selling anything on this sight. I have a 07 rx350 that I am parting out.
