Lexus will not start
Hello everyone, I have a 07 400h and my problem is that I cant start this car. It was involved in an accident, everything was repaired. Now I cant start it. My 12v battery drains really fast. I read that it has an emergency shut off system once the sensors sense an accident or rollover. Also that you can reset the hybrid system.
I really dont know where to start. I hope I wont need to take it to the dealer and just fix this problem myself. Has anyone else had this?
Any help would help/

Although I agree that the dealer should be the place to diagnose and fix [a cheaper per hour place may end up costing more as it would take them more time to hunt], but at this stage, who ever made the repairs should be contacted.
It is possible that the problem has nothing to do with the accident, and then the new vehicle warranty should cover it. But in case the accident is the root cause, then it should be insurance, who should foot the bill.
So if the dealer was the facility used for repairs, then it is easy for you. Else do exercise due diligence and keep the insurance company involved and let the dealership know that recently you had an accident and let them advise you how to proceed. The dealership knows how to work with insurance companies [just is that some insurance companies are hard to deal with].

if it has nothing to do with hybrid system the basic battery/alternator/parasitic drain tests should isolate the issue. if you have a multimeter you can do the above tests (search online for the necessary simple procedure or read on). To test the battery, measure the voltage between + and - when ther car is off (I bet it'd be somewhere under 10V if the battery is bad), jumpstart the car and measure the voltage again. The measurement should spike to 12V or higher. That means your alternator is charging the battery. Run it for a while, shut it off and measure the voltage again if it is back down under 10V, your battery is not holding the charge and likely needs to be replaced. There's a possibility that after the accident, some electrical wiring was damaged and a short was introduced that causes the battery to drain. To check for any parasitic drain, you need to disconnect the negative wire from the battery, switch your multimeter to measure Amperage and connect one multimeter connector to the negative of the battery and the other to the wire you had just disconnected, if the reading is up above 20mA you might have a parasitic drain some place and you should start checking the fuses. You need to start pulling them one at a time while checking the draw on the multimeter. if amperage drops significantly after you pull a specific fuse, that's the circuit where your drain is being introduced. I am assuming here that a hybrid system works the same as a conventional car in a way it starts the car.
