Default How Many Miles will the RX Do?

How many miles do you think you will get out of your RX before it is no longer justifiable to continue fixing it.

I have 70,000 now and hope to get 250,000.

Should last a while if it's maintained properly.

If I were to guess, I would say that the undersized transmission will give out at 150K. The plethora of gagets (power tailgate, etc, etc) will start to give trouble around 100K, but those are a minor inconvenience.

I have 255,000 right now. I want to get at least 400,000 before I get another one!
It seems sensors are the culprit with these cars. Other than the occasional replacement of brake shoes, charcoal canister, and fluid changes. This has been the best car I have ever owned!
AND,
-I'm very hard on my cars!!!!

I can't believe you have 255k!!! Nice job!!! What year is your RX? Roughly, what does it cost a year to maintain (outside of normal maintenance)?

Its a 1999 RX 300
I bought it with 46,000 miles on it, back in 2003.
I don't know what it cost a year on maintenance, but the price of gas was killing me there for a while.

I do oil changes around 5000 miles and change my transmission fluid 2 times a year.
Also did 1 power steering fluid flush.
So far, I do all my own maintenance.

Sensors seem to be the culprit on my car more than anything.

I have changed the battery, serpintine belts, charcoal canister, rear struts, knock sensors, air fuel sensors, timing belt and water pump, just about every light bulb in the car, number 5 coil, all spark plugs 3 times, PCV valve, and a starter.

I have had a rear main seal leak for a couple of years now, I may attempt it in the spring.

-I would buy another RX in a heartbeat!

Way to make a great car last!
You may be "hard" on the car, but you are on the money with preventive maintenance.

triplecore what kind of guilt is it, the kind where you want your RX to last longer, or the other where your parents have bought it for your 18th bday and you feel weird driving the expensive car for free when some peers don't even have a car? lol

Hey not nice, did you get a coal in your stocking for Christmas!. JK . Of course Guilty of the miles its close to 100,000. I guess you feel special at first, but after a while the car just seems to be like any other car. So know one else feels bad driving because the miles are getting higher?

First time posting here,...been lurking for a while. My 04 330 has 104,000 and runs like a champ. Only issues: the dash rattle that seems to be a frequent topic here, and the driver window sometimes seems to "creep" down a down a bit. A touch to the window control and all good.

Car seems like it has less than half the acutual mileage!

Glad to hear my topic encouraged you to post.

A little off topic but why were you hesitant to post before?
