I can't answer your question, but I wonder why not get the RX without Nav and customize the whole thing? Get an aftermarket nav/dvd player and have it installed without any restrictions. You're already going to customize quite a bit, why not avoid the hassle of overriding the stock obstacles? For the price of OEM nav, you could buy a lot of aftermarket equipment and probably get better quality too. Just a thought.
likewise. your question goes beyond my experience with lockpick other than to say it doesnt add/create video capability. It only unlocks existing features that are disabled while moving. Without a factory installed dvd player, there isn't video capability via the nav touchscreen. I presume you will be adding video capability to your nav screen that is sourced from your aftermarket headrest system somehow. As an after market install, I doubt it will be disabled when the car is moving.
thanks for the replies....well, the reason being is that i will be leasing the vehicle. from my understanding is that there is no way to install an aftermarket headunit into the dash without cutting the dash. if there is, please let me know....
I think you are right about that. so somehow you have to add aftermarket video capability to the nav touchscreen. I dont know how to do that but don't think lockpick is the answer.
I would be surprised if you could not install a full system without cutting the dash. I suggest you call Crutchfield and ask them. I expect it will be a easy question for them to answer. They won't know about lockpick, but they will know the aftermarket options. There are a ton of RXs sold, so there should be good options for aftermarket products. You can find them at Crutchfield.com, of course.
i have a question, I have the 09 RX + NAV, no ML and no entertainment package. apparently it is not available in NY. anyway I cant play DVDs on the screen. Is it supposed to play DVDs?
This is doable. I have done it. I have 2008 with NAV. i installed 2 DVD players with 7" screens in the headrest. I had to do some moding to get this done. Currently i have all of the system running thru Ipod system and not DVD player. I am sure i can add a DVD player if i wanted to with very little work since all of the wiring is done already.
The cost was close to $1500. If you are serious about it, let me know and i will get you list of items that you will need and a process to get all of the wiring done. Also keep in mind when you do this you are modifying car wiring that you will have to put back together when you go to return the lease.
No arguments with that. I interpreted the original question as he was unable to get the factory system to play dvds on the screen and wanted to know if there was a way to do that, as installed.
thanks for the help. but i think i found the solution. i believe the navtool will work for what i am trying to do. at least, thats what they tell me. ...
