How to remove sliding center console?
2004 Lexus RX 330
I'd like to tap power for the kids headrest DVD player from the accessory outlet at the front of the sliding center console near the floor. I cannot figure out how to remove that assembly such that I can get to it though. I have everything else installed and all the cables pulled.
Secondly, is there a switched power beneath each front seat -- which I could use instead of the accessory outlet?
Thanks,
ame

I figured it out.
a) Move the seats all the way forward, slide the console all the way back
b) From the rear seat, you will see a plastic panel on each side of the sliding part of the console. It is 250mm long or so and roughly rectangular
c) Put a putty knife or something thin in and pop that out from each side
d) Now you can remove the 6 bolts. The forward most bolt is a little tough, you need to move the seat all the way forward.
e) Now you can lift the console enough to remove the wiring harnesses that are attached at the front of the console.
f) Remove the two screws from the front part, and now you can remove the whole thing and access the accessory outlet power.

Is that common to hear rattling noise during driving when the center console is slided forward? When the console returns back shorter, no rattling is heard. I am wondering if the sliding forward gets the attachment loosed for rattling.
