Default Installing aftermarket radio

Just wondering were there any harnesses to install a aftermarket radio in the RX330? The car is a 2005 model. I've tried to look on metraonline, but it seems like they do not have one for the car.

Nvm, searched around and it seems like not even 1 company has created a harness for this car.

Does anybody have the wiring diagram for this car? Thanks guys!

Never gave it a thought,I really like the radio in the RX.Plus with the one piece type of layout,it may be almost impossible to come up with anything after market.

Im sure you'll have to custom splice it or use the usual 3 plug harness. Had the same problem with my GS. Im looking to upgrade mine as well with the newer units that support mp3/ipods and bluetooth for phone.

If anyone have the wiring diagrams would be awesome.

Default Try talking to a vendor

I recommend calling Crutchfield. They have helped me and members of my family a number of times. I'd say they are the best in the business. They don't have the lowest prices, but you get great guidance and all the stuff you need the first time around. I have to believe they have what you need. The RX is the most popular Lexus I believe and there are tons of them on the road. I find the OEM stereo pretty good, even without Mark Levinson, but I know many folks like the aftermarket offerings.

I have the oem stereo (not levinson). Sounded pretty lame. Added the inifinity basslink woofer in the back, and made a big improvement. The next step would be to add an input for the ipod and junk the FM modulator, but the vasilink thing is so expensive...I am starting to think about junking the whole system and replacing the radio head to one that is good AND already has an ipod input. Probably the same cost in the end.

Can you tell us more about this? Easy DIY install, cost and where to get? Thanks.

Default Radio Replacement

You can always get one of these double din kits.

And start from scratch.

man, i don't get why that panel would cost $125. seems steep but if people will pay it, i guess it's fair.

probably the best idea. i have two RF subs in back and an RF amp running it. added the vaistech unit for my ipod. if i wasnt leasing this car i would have got the double din dash kit, put in my aftermarket kenwood headunit and got rid of that useless factory amp and ran everything off the headunit. the thing that surprises me about this car is that it has a pretty good electrical system, the alternator cranks good and the battery is strong too.

Nope, I couldnt screw in a lightbulb lol. It cost $300.00 for install and included a new amp/tv tuner/xm/backup camera/bluetooth/ I purchased the doubl din face plate from Ebay. It is an O.E.M. part from Japans Harrier for $80.00. The low position is not a problem. If you swap out the factory radio you ned to install anothr amp. When you pull the radio it kills the amp. Funny, the factory amp is a pioneer like the radio. My entire rear seat and trunk space had to be taken out to get to the factory amp. I about crayola in my pants when I visited the install shop. Everything was stripped out. ROFL> Almost 1 and half years and no issues. Love the NAV traffic and its a lot better than the facotry navi. I know I have the fac navi in my other cars.

I have a '04 RX330 and my radio just stopped working. It was working fine the evening before when I parked it but when I started out the next morning there was no radio or CD. There is obviously no power to the unit but I have checked all of the fuses I can find which was two, one under the hood and one under the dash on the drivers side. I haven't been able to find anyone else who has the same problem. I just want to make sure that I am not overlooking something simple before I take it to a dealer and dump a ton of money into it. I will greatly appreciate any advice anyone can give. Thanks!

Wow, Marine, you did all that cool mod then turned around and sold it (your signature). Any reason in particular?
