Hi, as I was driving home today, something strange happened. First I noticed my radio turned off by itself, then 5 seconds later, my NAV screen went blank. Then 10 seconds later on the NAV screen, it states "Check System". I'm like WTF. I try pressing all the buttons on my NAV, the only button not working is my Climate and MAP. Everytime I try to click either of those two buttons, the "Check System" message appears. For the climate, "Check Connection" appears. Radio still works and backup camera works.
Now I arrived home, I turned off the car. The restart the car and everything is all back to normal. Has anybody had the same issue? I'm thinking it might happen again and there is no error message on my dash at all. I'm afraid if I go to dealership, they won't find anything. Car is 1 year old and 10k miles, haven't taken to dealership at all so no one should have messed with any electrical system.
You are still in warranty, so repairs shouldn't cost you anything. It sounds like an electrical problem, but requires a good deal more poking around to be specific. It could be something as simple as a bad connection, but that center stack can house all kinds of gremlins. Typically, the very act of taking it to the dealer will probably "fix" the problem - temporarily. The techs won't be able to duplicate the problem and your service rep will think you are nuts. I've had that experience too. Just keep going back.
Many times an elecrical problem will store a code that they will be able to trace. If nothing else, take it to a dealer just for the purpose of documenting the problem, unless the nearest dealer is 400 miles away, of course.
