Thank you for zapping the picture error for me!

I finally have the bank 1 sensor 2 in place. I ran into issues with rusted/stripped nuts holding the sensor in place. I had to destroy the protective metal shield in order to get the nuts out of there. It took the local Lexus dealer a week to get me a replacement shield and nuts. Then I had to take a grinder to the shield to make it fit around the replacement sensor.
Seems like it's always something!

So far, so good - no error codes yet. If I can get through today without any codes appearing, I think the problem is solved.

I also had some good luck with the local AutoZone store. They gave me a refund on the incorrect bank 1 sensor 1 that they recommended, and they let me keep the part!

Default Lexmex rocks! VTC and CEL fix worked!

Pulled fuse and took off neg. battery cable. VTC and CEL Lights went out! Car was running fine before lights cam on today. 82 k. New owner a month ago. Noticed gas mileage on 2 all hwy trips at 70mph on cruise was only 20.3 actual check.
Will Doing the EFI fuse in out thing help increase mileage back to the 22 mos folks get? Thanks for all your great advice.

When you pull the EFI fuse (or battery cables), the car's computer resets itself to your driving pattern, primarily within about the first 100 miles of driving (from my experience). That means to take it easy and not floor it around town if you want to get the best MPG.

omg mine just came on today ..a check engine light and VSC too..just bad. i will do a free scan of the code n see whats the problem. I also noticed my brakes have been squeaking lot of noise when breaking from a slow city driving speed. Maybe i need to pads and/or rotors?Maybe that has to do something with the lights coming on???

CEL and VSC lights have absolutely nothing to do with your brakes/ABS light. Two seperate issues, OMG .

Well, I got tagged with these famous lights this week, o2 sensor. I had it done at JP Imports here in Dallas, 200 for the part, 50 to diagnose it and 100 labor to put it on. 75K on the car.

My VSC, TRAC OFF and CE lights came on this week, suprisngly after the car was parked idle for 10 days.

AutoZone read P0442 (EVAP), so I'm going to get a new gas cap.

IN the meantime, I pulled the EFI fuse, and that cleared the CE light. How do I clear the VSC and TRAC OFF lights? (Should they have cleared after I pulled the fuse?)

They should have cleared. Pull the battery cables at this point.

Lucky enought, the VSC and TRAC OFF lights cleared about 5 miles later after the CE was eliminated via pulling the fuse.

If the lights don't come back, should I still worry about this? Is it prudent to switch the gas cap just in case?

Can anyone think of a reason why rain or moisture may have triggerred P0442? A friend here in Dallas claims the same thing happened to his RX after the storm.

No light, no worry. Don't know what rain would have to do with it. Sometimes codes just pop up and never come back.

I've done a few things since my lights came on, and am interested in the groups thoughts:

1. The car was parked for 10 days. Soon after startng it, the CE, VSC and TRAC OFF lights all came on.

2. Went to Autozone, and they diagnose P0442 and recommended a new gas cap. Also suggested that the charcoal cannister may be wet, however I did not overfill recently.

3. Pulled the EFI fuse, which cleared the CE light. However, the TRAC OFF and VSC lights remain on.

4. Been driving for 2 weeks now. Each time I start, all lights are clear, but within 10 seconds of putting into drive, the TRAC OFF and VSC lights appear.

I inspected my gas cap and it looks fine.

What should my next steps be? I'm thinking of gettign a $10 replacement gas cap and trying that for a few days to see if that changes anything.
