Default NAV firmware reversal process

Need some help. I purchased the 2007 NAV dvd update for the wifes 04 RX and installed it. There are now noises in the dash coming from some servos on the a/c. They even make the cycling noises when the climate control system is off. My question is: how do I revert back to the old firmware on the original DVD. It had the oruiginal DVD in there. The noises were not there before the upgrade so my thought process tells me maybe the updated software is causing the problem. I disconnected the battery for an hour but the firmware does not release and renew when I put the old DVD back in. This process works on my GS430, not the RX though. Is there something else to make this happen?

Sounds like a mechanical issue in the drive more than a firmware issue. Have you brought it in to have it checked out?

Default Finally got it

I finally got it. I put the old DVD in and unplugged the battery for 30 minutes. When it restarted, it recognized the old firmware and fix the a/c issues.

Thanks.

I also find it hard to believe a navigation software update would have anything to do with controlling the AC, but who knows. Anyway, now that you know how to revert back, how about doing a test? Put the new updated firmware back in and see if the problem comes back. If it doesn, put the old firmware back in and see if it goes away again. Personally, I think it is just conicidence right now, but a simple test should confirm one way or the other.

Default Believe it.

I put the new DVD back in and the servos started acting stupid again. Reverted back to the old DVD and firmware and all's quiet again. The new DVD makes some changes to the a/c settings somehow. I know on some versions, they make other changes than just Nav related. Anyone else experience this yet?

What does your dealer have to say about it? Take it in with the old software installed, then install the new in the presence of a tech and show him your issue - that ought to get you some attention!

Yes, definatly take it to the dealer and show him what it does! It should not to do it for sure.. It would be interesting to see what they would do for you, probably something lexus knows nothing about and may need to put out a TSB for some type of firmware patch?? let us know the outcome..

Wow, who would have thought. Anyway, now that you have a repeatable condition, just like others said I'd take it back to the dealer. If you had to pay for that nav update disc I would be asking the dealer myself to figure out what is wrong.
