Default Differences between RX's

Been a Lexus owner for quite awhile and am thinking about getting into the RX family. I know there are subtle changes between years and i just don't want to get myself into something without fully researching things like i did before. Even with researching there are alot of things in which i probably wouldn't find out until after buying the car so i hope this thread would give me good insights on how the RX's really are.

Had a 1994 ES300 and wished i had a 97 because of interior and exterior upgrades....then had a 1997 SC400 and wished i had a 98 because of the extra HP due to the VVTI engine and now I have a 2007 IS350 and wished i waited for the 2008 IS-F... i cant seem to win....

I am now interested in an RX due to the pandora body kit

Please talk to me about the RX and be as thorough as you possible can... I would appreciate it much. Hopefully i'll be switching from the IS forum to the RX forum a little sooner than later.... Thank you and i appreciate it

woops sry, umm im not sure about the difference between the 2004-2006 models , but for the 07, you get chrome door handles and u can get the optional 18 inch rims. i also heard that there was a change in the grill. i cant tell. if you can, get a 350 because the get up and go is much more noticable then in the 330, thats all i can think of, sorry i wasnt more help. o and if u have the money, just get the hybrid looks nicer

It sounds like you should wait until the 09 RX, then make your decision.

jmd, its the 2008s that have the chrome door handles and optional 18 inch special rims.

okay so there was a complete redesign in 2004. the 2004 does not have bluetooth phone, so you should at least buy a 2005 and beyond.

in 2006, the RX350 came out replacing the rx330. you get 270 horses vers 230. also there was added sound proofing and lexus claims at least 50 different changes. note that 2004 and 2005 models were made in Japan versus the now canadian made ones.

and now 2008, there was a refresh with a new grill, new rim style, and chrome door handles.

2009 models which is expected to come out in April of 2008 will feature a complete redesign.

if you're driving an IS then you're probably more into sporty sedans. The RX is a different kind of a vehicle. IMHO dont get it just because of some body kit that exists for it. The RX is not sporty at all, it is a sedate, family-oriented, upper middle class mom's grocery hauler.

Of course you know that body kit won’t fit the 09. If you are looking for a entry level luxury people or cargo mover, then the RX is a good choice, but if you are looking for a personal sport SUV, then keep looking.

We own both an RX (05 330) and an IS (an 07 IS250 AWD). These are two completely different vehicles, and cater to a very different group of owners. While we love the RX and find it extremely comfortable for long hauls, it has nothing like the fun factor available in driving the IS. I tend to be a bit aggressive, and have probably pushed the RX a bit too close to its limits, but it has always been forgiving. With the IS250 (and the 350 is even better) I have yet to finish exploring it’s limits, but they are a whole lot higher than the top heavy, and nanny controlled (thank goodness) RX.

If the only purpose you have in looking at the RX is a body kit, and seeing what you can do to dress it up, I’m afraid that you’ll be quite disappointed. If you need a hauler, that will wrap you in comfort, and get you there in fine order, then the RX will fill that bill – but a sports car it ain’t, and no manner of mods is going to make it perform like one.

Rx330 is a boat! Very nice car for everyday driving around but not much options when it comes to mods. especially when it comes to the stereo! I would skip if you want a car to dress up. Although it does have a cheaper insurance rate though! And yes, the 350 does have waaaayyyyy more kick when it comes acceleration.
