Question Maintenance Required Light

Can anyone tell me how to get the Maintenance Required light to turn off on the dash? At just about 19,900 miles, the Maintenance Required light came on. I assume this is to remind me to do the oil change and tire rotation. However, I had already had the service done. (not at the Lexus dealer who wanted to charge me nearly 200 dollars, and suggested 400 dollars worth of non required maintenance) I had also gone in and changed the intervals and dates on the items in the navigation screen so they all show I have a little over 5000 miles before being due again. In the owners manual it shows a reset button on the navigation screen in the "information: maintenance" screen which does not appear when I go in. Is there some step I am missing?
Do I need to take it in for some other service? Does this light come on for other reasons other than as a reminder for scheduled service?
Thanks for the help.

This comes up about once a month around here - evidently Lexus' telephone book-sized manual is too much for most of us. Wonder if they'd consider a sticker somewhere?

Turn on the ignition but do not start the car, press the rectangular "odometer" button on the left side of the instrument panel until it reads your total miles. Turn off the ignition, press and hold the button down while turning on the ignition again. Watch the dashed lines in the odo disappear one by one. Release the button, turn off ignition. When you switch the ignition on again, your "Maintenance Required" light should be off.

Thanks Lil4X, I looked all thru the sections on the lights and could not find this in the manual. I followed your instructions and it worked like a charm!!

In my spare time, I will find the page numbers of the most FAQ's. Do we not have a sticky on these, yet?

I had actually spent about 30 minutes yesterday trying to find this information in the owner's manual. I will try again, but this forum has proven to be a wonderful source of information when answers are hard to find.

Thanks for the info! I've been dreading having to go back to the dealer to get that reset since I didn't find it in the manual either.

OK, here we go, one more time.

Set your key to accessory. Set your odometer to mileage. Push odometer button until light comes off.

Correct it if I am not accurate.

I actually posted key items on the manual....I will search.

5. Use the comfort guide for the rear seat belts P. 160
6. Driving Position memory (plus side mirror) P. 222
7. Tilt feature for side mirror P. 230
