Default New car Undercoating

I Just bought me an 08 350 and I got a great deal of $295 for undercoating job? I can get the money back anytime before I get it done--but the question is DO I need the undercoating protection? Give me your thoughts and if you got your car done at the dealer?

Now I just need to figure out how to pait 2 like phones for the bluetooth connection--I have read and read but still a little confused?

My opinion, the car has undercoating from the factory; it is not needed. But, if you go forth and get it, make sure they don't cover any drain holes.

The answer is NO. You don't need it. It's already applied from the factory.

According to Puddy the dealers don't even know what that is.

DONT get it its just something the dealer's try and sell you to make some extra cash on the deal. I remember this option was real popular say about 10 years ago. You'll do just fine with the factory coating. They only thing that may rust out on any car thats over 10 years old (if you even decide to keep it that long) is the exhaust, but you won't have to worry about that since your RX comes with a stainless steel unit.

Undercoating is a rip off. To this day, several people are still suckered in.

I did my own undercoating. Just get a couple of undercoating spray cans.

Make sure to wear a good mask! and lots of good ventilation.

Also, let them dry up pretty good, they remain goeey for some time. If you drive on a dusty road, all of the dirt and dust will stick!

yeah skip it. i never ever buy those extras from dealer. including protectants for inside and/or outside. my car is 4 1/2 years old and the underbelly looks fine, no rust or anything.

as for the BT pairings, i am not sure what the trouble you are having, but if your question is whether it can auto detect 2 diff cell phones, i don't think it can be done. as of now the car only looks for the one that was paired last, and if you want to pair a diff phone, you have to go to settings to select it. (when the original person gets back in after that, you have to do the same thing again.) not a very smart feature IMO, but then again, we don't share cars too much so it's manageable.

Cool, looks like Ill get my money back then--
I figured out all the BT stuff and dialing by name/number! Very neat really and the voice quality is very good.

LOL, you're right! but we do take it up to big bear mammoth a couple times each year and i have noticed rust on other things but nothing on the underbelly, so it sorta gives an idea of how the factory coating is

but you're right - NOTHING like Alaska

I still dont think I need it up here? We dont use salt on our roads. I even asked my Lexus mechanic who Im great friends with--like everyone else said, it comes from the factory rustproofed enough.

He did say if you could take everything off the underside so you could undercoat every inch, but thats not happening..lol
