I was able to create a hybrid dvd for the Nav overide courtesy of this Post.
My spouse is able to input destinations using the hybrid dvd while I am driving which is awesome. One question: Can I put back my original Lexus ver 6.1 disc because the older ver 5.1 firmware is already registered in the ECU and still be able to use the override option using the original lexus 6.1 disc
The only reason for the big NO was that I wanted to save you the trouble of disconnecting the battery all over again. From what I have read on this forum and other forums the second you put in a new generation DVD it automatically updates the OS. I just wanted to emphasize the fact that all (most of) your hard work would be undone.
Do you think it will affect the warranty at all if you leave the hybrid disc in when you take the car for a service and then the dealer finds out that you are using it?

NO
#1 How would they know ?
#2 why would the bother to check the DVD?
#3 If they did discover the DVD they would have to be able to prove that it had an effect on the part in question
For example if your A/C stopped working or the engine or transmission blew up how can they prove it was caused by the new DVD or how could they blame it on the new DVD?
PS in order to void the warranty they have to show the the change caused the problem
You may have to remove/reinstall the disc to "update" the system again.
Hackers of all kinds often wind up with a disabled system. That's one thing with a computer that's fairly straightforward and a well-understood OS. Tinkering with a proprietary system such as that developed for your RX usually produces limited results and can be very expensive.
Why would you want to enable a system that still requires you a half-dozen screen touches every time you turn the key? So many people are already complaining about the "Accept" screen already, this "improvement" would seem to be geekiness in the extreme.
We at CL cannot recommend or endorse any such procedure. There is a specific danger inherent in fooling with something you do not totally understand, and while this issue is not technically software piracy that is specifically forbidden on these forums, it must be understood by all that hacking around on your nav system can have expensive consequences.
I'm new here, just got a used 04 rx330. I got a gen 3 navi i think and was looking to upgrade. However, I don't want to lose the navi hack. I was just wondering if i bought the 6.1 dvd where do i get the 5.1 files from to make the hybrid dvd or is there anyway to just buy a hybrid dvd from ebay or something.
