Default Help! Tire pressure light

Just got my rx350 last month and have a total of 1800 miles on it. For no reason the tire pressure light came on. So i checked the tires 1 was a little low, and now all are at dealers recommendation pressure. However light does not turn off and i am about 2000 miles from a lexus dealer. does anyone know of reset that i need to to do? Thank You

Instead of just one, check all 4 and the spare.

Mine did the same thing. I put 34.5 in all four and the light didn't go out.

It was the spare that I forgot to check which was the culprit..

Don't forget to check the spare!

two things could have happened.

1) you have a small leak, that keeps running out of air (happened to me). i never refilled it cause the light went off, but once in a while it would come back on.
2) you have to reset to the tire pressure idicator, located under the sterring column next to the trac off, air suspension off buttons. the buttons are really low, under the dash practically.

the other factor that triggers the sensor is the weather.

i was driving to work one day and the pressure light was off.

during that day the temp drops real quick and by the time i got off work, the light was on.

talked with the guy at service, a drop of 7 psi will bring the sensor on.

One other possibility you might want to check. There is button on the passenger side located on the underside of the glove compartment close to the little amber light. This button switches between two types of tire pressure monitoring. If a passenger inadvertently hits this button with their foot, knee, etc this can cause the TPMS warning light to come on all the time. Apparently the switch has to be set to match the type of sensors on the car. If not, the system will report a pressure problem. Of course, the service guy had a clearer explanation when I had this problem.

My light came on at around 100 miles for no apparent reason. I ignored it until my first service as I knew the pressure was fine. Turned out it was just this switch being set wrong.

Wait a minute! How can the spare, which isn't connected to anything, give a low tire pressure warning? Don't the tires have to be mounted on the axle to send a signal? Is the low tire warning system a radio signal?

In addition, it is my understanding that this system will only tell you that a tire is DANGEROUSLY low not two or three pounds low. Am I wrong on this? I do check my tires at least twice a month so I really don't worry about it.

The older RX330 used to use the wheel sensors to detect a difference in rotational speed due to a low tire. The newer RX350 uses a radio signal in a special valve stem like the newer GS/IS.

Grumpa, you're right.. My spare was about 8lbs low. That's too low for me on any tire..
