Default Voice Recognition - Do you normally use it?

I have had my RX about 6 weeks, but I still have not gotten around to setting up the voice command recognition program. Have you and do you normally use it? Tell us about your experiences with it.

I've configured some of it, but I don't use it on a regular basis.

I've tried it but don't use it. I have had two other cars with voice recognition (one was a Toyota Avalon) and it just seemed to be a waste of time using voice recognition. As soon as the system interprets something wrong time is wasted correcting the problems which result. I have a deep voice which seems to confuse the software?

There really is not much setup involved - it works "out of the box". There are a few settings (the one telling the system not to be so verbose is an immediate must!), but basically you just use it.

It is still likely to give me pizza place icons or something when I tell it to zoom in - that hasn't changed much from gen 4.

I found the accuracy to be pretty poor so after experimenting with it when the car was new, I haven't used it in about 9 months other than to amuse passengers. I have them try to get the system respond correctly.

I've use it for "audio control" (like CD changer, FM radio) and "supsend guidence". I am still playing around. It wasn't responding when my salesman tried to show me some voice features like saying "Chinese restaurant". ???

I have used it only for bluetooth phone operations - saying "dial by name" or dial by number". I just started saying "dial office" and cutting out a step.

I have noticed that unless you speak a phone number at a reasonably fast pace and not try to sound out every number...it will screw up. Say a number normal and it works fine.

I still would prefer for phone numbers in the Nav to be selectable while moving......no more dangerous than looking at the phone.

Am I missing something here? I looked at both manuals (User Guide + NAV) and do not see where to setup Voice Recognition. The only thing I've tried so far is "go home" and this works well.
Thanks for pointing me to where and how to set this up (if you can find it)
