Default Voice Command PITA

today i was utilizing the voice command to call my home. everytime i said "call home" she replied "GO HOME". after several attempts i quit. i tried to use voice for an address... i'm not going to continue because i'll write a few paragraphs. my question is, does anyone think the cold weather is interfering with the electronics? it's been 30/35 degrees here lately.

I really do not think so, the voice recognition system is much better in the new generation unit that came in the 2013 models. Sometimes the unit cannot distinguish between call or go, so I usually use the term dial to get to the phone menu, and then use call.

Does our voice system "learn" the more we use it? Seems like to me that the more I use it, the more it recognizes commands better. It's either that, or I've started talking more clearly and scaled back my NC accent :-)

I think the Lexus voice command system is inferior to the one employed by MyFord Touch.

BWM too.
In looking at a 5 Series,my salesman with his heavy accent used the voice and the system worked well.
You also have on the fly inputs with BMW.

The owner's manual has a list of commands, but I suspect the actual list is more extensive...hopefully.

"go home" works for me, as does the destination by address.

Calling by last name is usually a problem, so I have to use first names.

Lexus should have put in an ability to learn, perhaps let you pick a contact, and then have you pronounce it.

I was hoping there was a voice command to suspend guidance, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

there is. when you click the voice command, there is a button on the side you can uncheck, i think says voice command prompts or voice guidance.

There are times when I say "Call XXXX" and it doesn't recognize the command. It is very frustrating. It always recognizes "Go Home", so at least I know I will always make it home and can call from there.

Hey guys, a quick note, but "Call Home" and "Go Home" should be considered different. The "Go Home" command quickly picks up your home address which is already known by the car, while the "Call Home" command looks for "Home" in your phone address book. I have never had a problem "Go"ing Home, but a few times "Call Home" has picked another address in my address book (eg. "Mom and Dad Home" instead).

There is no "Call Home" command unless you have programmed a phone number in your address book with last name "Home".

i've used the "call home" command countless times with no problem. that day it just didn't recognize the command. why? i don't know. today i used the "it's too cold command and her reply was "pardon", instead of raising the heat like it always does when i use that command. i think the cold weather has something to do with it.

the HB contains hydrocarbons which in turn causes electronic instability in the computer circuitry resistors in our cars. . Thanx... I think she'll be fine.
