Question Automatic Door Lock/Unlock Feature

I love this feature on my RX350. But I have a concern about automatic unlocking everytime I shift the gear to "P". It is a personal safety concern for me and other passengers. It is a good idea. But I perfer manual unlocking instead. Anyway the dealer or DIYer can change the setting?

My relative owns an '04 Toyota Sienna which does the same thing. I've read that you can change the door locking/unlocking option with a few clicks on the keyless entry remote.

You can do it yourself. See page 9 of the big manual.

Thanks. I will let the dealer do it anyway because I have to return for the state inspection sticker. I was joking with my salesman that when I finish reading the owner manual, navigation guide, warranty info, etc, I'll be ready for my next Lexus.

I hope it's the only thing you want changed because you're guaranteed only one complimentary Lexus Personalized Settings adjustment at the dealer. Better to do it yourself and find something down the road that you'd like changed that can only be done by the dealer. The automatic door locking and unlocking system is unfortunately the only thing we can modify ourselves (at least the easy way).

From the 2004 RX 330 Owners Manual...

Setting the auto door locking and unlocking functions
You can set the following auto door locking and unlocking functions.
(a) Locking linked with the shift position
All the doors are locked automatically when the selector lever is moved out of the “P” position with the ignition switch in the “ON” position.*
NOTE: * This function is the default setting for new vehicles.
(b) Unlocking linked with the shift position
All the doors are unlocked automatically when the selector
lever is moved to the “P” position with the ignition switch in the “ON” position.
(c) Locking linked with the vehicle speed
All the doors are locked automatically when the vehicle speed reaches 20 km/h (12 mph) or higher. However, if any door is unlocked during driving, this auto locking function will not operate until the unlocked door is opened once.
(d) Unlocking linked with opening the driver’s door
All the doors are unlocked automatically when the driver’s door is opened within 10 seconds after the ignition switch is turned from “ON” to the “ACC” or “LOCK” position.
Setting the functions
1. Close all the doors.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the “ON” position.
3. Within 10 seconds after the ignition switch is turned to the “ON” position;
- To set function (a)
Push and hold the front of the power door lock switch for 5
seconds with the selector lever in the “P” position.
- To set function (b)
Push and hold the rear of the power door lock switch for 5
seconds with the selector lever in the “P” position.
- To set function (c)
Push and hold the front of the power door lock switch for 5
seconds with the selector lever in any position except “P”.
- To set function (d)
Push and hold the rear of the power door lock switch for 5 seconds with the selector lever in any position except “P”.
All the doors are automatically lock and unlock when you release the power door lock switch. This indicates that the
function is set. If all the doors do not lock and unlock, the time the switch was held may have been too short or too long.
Perform the procedure over again starting from step 1.

If you want to cancel a function, repeat the procedure. Each time you perform the procedure, the function is set or cancelled.

It is clear. I tried to do this for my car but nothing is happend. It seems to me that for RX330 it works but not for RX350. May be anybody can check this topic for RX350 or in manual for RX350. Thanks.

Our Audi doesn't unlock the doors until the key is removed from the ignition. Can our RX330 be set to do this?
