Default Driver Seat Memory Question

Does anyone know if you can program the 2 "master" keys to be associated with the 2 driver memory positions, so that my wife & I can just press the unlock button and it will automatically recognize us as either Driver 1 or Driver 2 without having to press the seat memory button?

I looked in the manual but couldn't find anything. I also asked the dealer, who said it was impossible - but he was wrong about a couple other things, like being able to add numbers to the phone book manually & changing the navi keyboard layout to "qwerty"... so I figure it can't hurt to double-check!

Oh yeah, I originally posted this as a reply to this thread:

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...30#post1999630

in the IS forum, which was all I found on the topic when I used the Search function.

Hey,

I know this is not answering you question but is there a way to change the keyboard layout to QWERTY?

Thanks,

You have to press the seat memory buttons... They aren't controlled by the remote entry computer controls, physically and or logically.

Yes, although it just seems to change it for the Navi, not for the phone book, which is kind of annoying. Don't have access to the car right now, but I believe you press Menu, then Setup, and then I think there's a Keyboard Layout option on the 1st page, with "ABC" and "QWE" as the options.

Thanks... that's what I was afraid of. I guess Lexus only added this feature to cars with the keyless entry/ignition fob, since it works in the IS. Oh well...

Having the seat memory setting connected to the key sounds great on paper, but everybody I know that has this says that it does not work in the real world because everybody in the family is using various sets of keys all the time, and one key is not used by just one person.

It is not such a big deal to press the button on the door to readjust the seat/wheel/mirrors. A few years ago we did not even have that feature. And before that, no motors to help us with the adjustments.

Likewise, I've heard from some posters commenting that the keyless entry is great on paper, but not always useful in practice.

On another note, is it possible to program the power seats to move back for entry/exit along with the steering wheel moving? My wife's car does this and it is a very nice feature. Just curious.

Aloha,
Larry

Larry asks: "is it possible to program the power seats to move back for entry/exit along with the steering wheel moving? "

Sorry; no it is not.

If you're short and the sole driver, you can program the 2nd button to move the seat backward and push it each time you get in or out.

Too bad the rear-view mirror is not connected to the memory buttons. I had that in the Mercedes and thought it was a very nice feature. It was a power mirror and would adjust automatically with the seat and the side mirrors.
