Angry Car Keyed....

After only 3 weeks of taking ownership of a brand 06 RX330 Flint Mica, someone keyed it up. Granted it wasnt all over the car, but it is still noticeable. One is pretty deep, while the other one seems like a hairline. Just wanted to gather some advice and suggestions as to the cost and where to take it. I will attach a couple pictures. Thanks!

Sorry to see the damage. The first pic looks pretty deep, I'm not sure polishing would do much. You might have to repaint the entire panel. The second mark looks like it might polish out.

Cost wise, you could use your insurance company and claim it under comprehensive coverage. Hopefully your deductible isn't too high (0ver $500).

Just make sure you take it to a good body shop. D/t the metallic flakes in your paint color, color matching might be a challenge. Good luck.

Default Sorry, its to bad there are

those that out of stupidity or jealousy or whatever ignorance compels people to do things like that. Try a good body shop, they might be able to touch it up and compound it out. Make sure they clear coat again if possible.

Color match is no problem, even with Flint Mica. When I had to have the bumpers replaced, I was afraid the paint wouldn't match, too, but the body shop did an awesome job and there's no difference. The flecks are mixed into the paint, and the pros know how to work with it.

Ahh that's awful man, sorry to see the scratches. I do know how you feel though my RX300 has a few scars probably not from keys but from dumb kids who swing their door open and leave a small scratch or patch of paint missing from my Lexus. It sucks that people are that careless.

My uncle just polishes the stupid marks and scratches I get. Sometimes, he uses a marker to touch it up.

Default get it fix

Call your dealer and ask who they use and get it fix. It should not be that much. I had to have my hold hood repainted and it was less than $ 400.

If you are in LA county and if the insurance company is going to pay for it, or if you don't mind paying for it yourself, the best bodyshop around is Marco's.
