Did you actually chrome it, or was it just exposed aluminum?

The Christmas lights reflecting from the grille is a nice touch.

It was actually Chrome underneath the layer of grey paint. I did this same mod to my GS400 and also looks great. Just takes alot of elbow grease.

Great, I will do that over the weekend. I saw you used paint thinner, does paint remover work?

Cool. I should know this, as I have a gnarly gash on the gray part from a rock

I just followed the same directioins the CL members gave for the GS400 DIY chrome grill.. I first started with Goof off that I bought from Home depot and then thinner. Both chemicals took about the same amount of time, I also used steel wool to help speed up the process. But be real careful you dont scratch the chrome.. Also, you want to make sure that you just get the face part of the grill and not the sides(depending on how much chrome you want to expose).

This is the link I used to do the grill on my GS400

I used a paint remover from Home Depot, that stuff is corrosive, ate three pairs of latex gloves but I got a chrome grill now.
