Unhappy RX330 transmission, ongoing saga

Just brought home a RX330 made in Canada 04/04 as a loaner while ours is in for 1st service at 7000 miles. Wow, a real functioning transmission! The dealer is reluctant to do the update, and had almost talked us out of it. Will be calling that man at 7am tomorrow! The shifting is smooth and quiet. I think Lexus needs a recall, sounds like others have had some safety concerns. Has anyone had a bad moonroof motor. Ours skreeches upon opening, either the tilt or the slide.

My sunroof is doing the same thing. It was recently serviced for 15k and this was supposed to be fixed, but alas was not.

I am having tranny problems as well.

Good Luck on the fix, so far Lexus has let me way down.

Angry moonroof

Hmmm, when I went in for first service, and was told the moonroof motor was a little noiser than the loaner I made the mechanic compare it to. However, not bad enough to warrant trying to fix the problem. In otherwords, if they try to fix it, they have admitted that there is a problem! What's with that? My daughter's Trailblazer has a moonroof, that you can barely hear. Guess we'll just have to wait until the darn thing burns out, or quits. Second letter to Lexus customer satisfaction department is in the works! I like writting, so at least I have it documented, and they did follow up with at least a phone call last time. My dealer has been good, espically the mechanic, explaining things about repairs and updates, I'm sure they are equally as frustrated as we all are with the problems, that can't be fixed, or won't be fixed, due to Lexus error, and regulation.

I found in very warm weather my moonroof was making a rubbing sound. I lubricated the rubber around the edge with silicone spray and it seems to have done the trick. FYI. Hope this helps with your moonroof issue.

First to CDN-- Dealer told me they did that and it still hasn't helped, it really sounds like a motor grinding problem.

2nd to Noosense- There are only two dealers in western upstate. One in Buffalo, and Dorschel in Rochester. Have an appointment on the 14th for routine maintenace and have asked that the moonroof problem be addressed again. No more dog and pony show routine, if they don't fix it this time it will generate a letter to Toyota. The transmission seems to be better, as long as no one else drives it. I don't think I really like that transmission memory. The noisy injector is still annoying, but I guess if our friends with the Corvette can put up with it so can we.

Default uh oh

I *KNEW* the Lexus line would go downhill once they stopped building them in Japan. All of the cars and motorcycles I've owned were made in Japan, very important to me as I think they take more pride in building cars.

Lexus line hasn't gone down since they stopped building them in Japan, in fact the only Lexus model built outside of Japan is the RX330. But more than half of them are still being built in the Toyota Kyushu plant in Japan. It's fortunate for us West Coasters, that majority of the RX330's sold here are Japanese made in Kyushut. BTW, more than 70% of the parts made for the RX at the Cambridge plant are still shipped in from Japan i.e. the Engine, Tranny, Suspension components and etc.
