RX330 - Dash Rattle
Got mine back, however, the problem is still there and it is going back to the dealer next Wednesday. They fixed most of the problems, however, there is still a rattling noise coming from the glove box area, and there is now a very annoying buzzing sound coming from the point where the A-Pillar meets the dash.
Also, has anyone noticed a problem with the sun visors and the mirrors not staying up?
Any suggestions
Thanks

yep, had the dash rattle big time but now it sorta fixed itself for the moment. but both sun visors refuse to stay up. this is my first lexus and i love my car but it is full of little bugs that i thought a lexus wouldnt have. i always understood that their new models were not test beds.. and also does anybody on the forum have problems with the center console door not opening or closing all the time with just one push. sometimes i have to push it many times at just the right angle to get it to open or close.. i told dealer about this and they said part was on international back order. bet i am not the only person with a car that has this problem.

So far (5 days) & no more rattle. Like I said before they had the dash out two(2) times before they were happy. Now time will tell if we remain happy too.

Received the paperwork from the Lexus dealer. Here is what they wrote:
1). Removed dash underside for rubbing.
2). Insulated center heating duct & reinstalled dash.
A little better.
3). Removed dash again & insulated pegs, put dash back in.
Almost gone.
4). Removed dash again & insulated edge contacts.
NOISE GONE
Parts Used - #08231-00801 - (Noise Kit)
Hours = 11.5
There is their work sheet record, hope this helps others

Just curious, how many of you guys have the early Japan assembled RX's? Ours was built in Japan in Feb 2003 and bought in April 03. So far we have no rattles in the dash or other parts of the car at 27K miles. We did have to replace hatch computer and exhsuast manifold recall thing and we also have the faint clunking noise near the tranny area when you lift off the gas, but other than that we have no rattles or squeeks so far.
I have had my rx330 in for the dash rattle on a number of occasions. The dealer has performed the TSBs applicable to this issue, e.g., insulating defroster nozzle, padding in dash, etc. While the rattle is not as consistent as it once was, I still have the rattle. The dealer is trying to work with me and has asked that I have a tech ride with me. However, every time I try and ride with a tech, it doesn't rattle.
Also, i have a buzzing noise that is coming from the front passenger door. Strangely enough, it often begins when I make a right turn in the car. Again, this noise never seems to occur when I have the tech in the car.
Other than the rattles, I really like the car (rx330, silver/black/performance package/nav).
btw: I purchased my car in July 03 so it's a japanese-built rx.

Ours was purchased in Oct. '03 so it must be the USA built? Does anyone know how to tell?
So far, dash rattle has not returned but with the cold weather coming soon it just may return as it seemed to be worse when the temp is under 40 degrees.
Didn't know anything about recalls for any reason yet?

xfirechief,
I agree and think that once the cold weather returns here in D.C., my rattle will likely become more pronounced. That's why I am going to wait a little bit before riding with the tech again.
Re: whether your car is Japanese-built, I believe that the first 3 numbers on the VIN for all Japanese-built Rx's starts with "JTJ."
