My 2007 Lexus RX 350 with about 165,000 miles in it has randomly been showing the VSC Light, followed by the Check Engine Light. For a time, I could disconnect the battery and both would go away. Today that solution stopped working. Is this a sensor issue? Any ideas on cost to fix it? Thanks in advance!
No, not unless someone yanked the ABS sensor cable and broke it. If both came on, it's not caused by the VSC system, it's the CEL light disabling the VSC system. Scan the car
I know this may sound like a weird solution, but I would definitely recommend checking out what codes your car is actually receiving. Mine would constantly throw the check engine and VCS lights. When I check the codes a lot of them were evap errors and one was a transmission connector error of some sort None of these really had anything to do with the VCS that kept coming up I did flush all my brake system using a power bleeder but that didn't resolve the issue and they all came back. I checked under my hood and made sure all of my vacuum hoses were connected well. One was a little loose and I improved that. And then I bought a new gas cap and a new vacuum solenoid. I switched out the gas cap first cuz it was the cheapest. And eventually all the errors went away. And thanks to a recent ice storm up here in Michigan I was able to test the VCS and confirm that it works perfectly I don't know what errors you are actually experiencing but it may be worth a $10 gas Cap to a start fixing them especially if they're evap errors. Hope this helps
Thank you for your reply. I was thinking about trying a new gas cap already so I think I'll give that a shot (as well as seeing what codes are being received).
