I've used both Toyota as well as Zerex for Asian cars (red label), last one I bought was the Zerez from Walmart can't say one is any better or worse than the other several people here have used both.

I'm runnung Zerex red to.
I think it says, "for asian cars" on the jug.

My car was built in Canada so that scares me a little.
Just kidding. Haha 😂

It has been demonstrated statistically that Japanese robots work just as well in Ontario, and Kentucky, as they do in Yokohama.

Personally i would stick with OEM Toyota but you will probably be okay with the coolants that explicitly say they are compatible with Toyota / Lexus Vehicles such as zerex

as long as they dont have 2eha, anything listed as compatible with Toyota is fine.

Plasticizer which wreaks havoc if paired with incorrect cooling system materials.

I don't know if this is true or not but I heard that using the wring coolant can mess up the engine bad and in some cases cause corrosion in the cooling system and head gasket leaks.

Maybe it's the PH or chemistry of the coolant but I don't know.

I'm speaking about coolant in cars in general, not just Lexus. 😃

There’s a huge slew of chemicals used for anti-wear, and anti-corrosion inhibitors, and they don’t all play well with each other. Silicates, Borates, Nitrates are the main players here (as well as 2-eha (2-ethyl, hexanoic acid) as mentioned. So either strictly follow the manufacturer’s installed type, OR use an AMAM.

”AMAM” (all make, all model) coolants, typically yellow now, are free of all these and truly are “universal.” They won’t harm any systems and will provide long-life protection equal to SLLC. You can mix them with old green, Toyota Red, even Dex-Cool (which has 2-eha), all Euro coolant types. I generally switch all vehicles to this slowly when doing radiator drain/fills - no need to flush it out. Another thing that makes them attractive vs. SLLC is that you can get them concentrated, thus you can mix 60:40 and get 20% more anti-wear and anti-corrosion additives vs. a 50:50 mix. Very cheap insurance in my mind, more valuable to me vs. the -30F to -50F(?) freeze benefit.
