Hello all.....
Im having a concern about which coolant should I use for my lexus IS300 - 2003. I have done the timing belt and currently using Green coolant which used for all TOYOTA model. PLease advise ASAP.
all toyota vehicles, especially your IS came with Toyota red coolant.
Thanks buddy. I did not know about that and I came to TOYOTA dealer and they gave me that damn green coolant even I asked for Lexus as well. I will flush it out and get the red one filled up.
Thank you.
What I heard from people was that IS is high performance engine and the engine will be working with high temp. so thats why it requires red coolant instead of green coolant, and some told me that coolant is just a damn coolant nothing is really matter in which coolant your car go with. what do y'all think... ??? Does anyone knows why they make different colors on different kinds of coolant?

i am an auto mechanic and in my opinion its just what car manufacturers like to do, like gm has red dex cool, toyota has pink, most others have green. i think they do this so that way you will go to the dealership by default since pink toyota coolant isnt exactly a wal-mart item. and of course at the dealership it cost at least twice as much as anywhere else. as long as you have an all makes, all models coolant with the proper 50/50 mixture of water and coolant you will be fine. and do not use GM dexcool, that was just an example!!

The IS300's engine is not a high performance motor so it doesn't need extra special attention. Green or red isn't crucial as getting the coolant drained/refilled when necessary. I use both Red and Green for my cars and they all perform well enough for daily driving.
Whatever you do, don't get Dexcool unless you want to clog your cooling system

I got my green coolant at TOYOTA dealer, I'm not sure if it's used for all models because I did not pay attention to that. But I did mix 50/50 water and coolant. Would that be fine? I have no problem so far except after few days there was like a red glue melt down from the rubber seal of the water pump, as you can see in the picture attached. what do you think? anyone has any suggestions??? Is this a result of using green coolant???
Did you burp it? Are you sure that spot wasnt there, before you did the flush and fill? You did do a flush and fill, right?
I go with Penzoil 50/50 mix from my auto parts store. As long it an all makes/models fluid, you should be okay. (wait, did I just repeat what others have said??)

No I didnt. I'm about to do this weekend, but still need advices on this. That red spot wasnt there when I bought the water pump, after few days I saw it appeared, its like a glue ... dont you think? Thats why Im having a questions on using right or wrong coolant.
