the picture shows where i think the two lines go. the fatter one goes straight to the air box, and the thinner line to the t-junction. is this correct? also, what does the other end of the thinner line connect to? i ask because when i connect it to the t-junction, the car runs fine, but my transmission just doesn't feel quite right. this is hard to explain and it may just be my imagination, but i don't want to do anything to my transmission. any help appreciated because i've tried everything else online and i don't have the factory repair manual.
There is a vacuum hose diagram under the hood, or supposed to be. IIRC, that one goes to a switching valve, and among other things supplies vacuum on command to the front motor mount for speed adaptation. The hose diagram should indicate it goes to the switch, labeled something like “PWM-VSV” or something like that.
When convenient, I would replace that yellowed section of hose with a fuel or oil rated hose. Just a little bit like that can be bought at the hardware store cheaply. That section will harden and crack as that replacement hose someone stuck in there is not designed to take heat - as you can see. It’s already breaking down substantially.
