Default Do you keep stock camera functionality with new stereo?

Hi guys. First timer. I've been lurking, but unable to find an answer to this very specific question.
My RX350 has the factory Nav and rear camera. I intend to add a new double din stereo via crutchfield with all of the added wiring harnesses and steering wheel control boxes, and install the resistor.
I know if you install the resistor you keep factory nav and the climate controls on your original screen, but do you also keep the camera functionality when selecting reverse on this screen?
I also know I could run a new camera to my new head unit, etc- but my desire is to keep the original camera functionality on the original screen.

thank you for your help
Chris

Welcome to Club Lexus and your first post!

I don't think the rear camera is compatible but I don't know for sure 100%.

I bought a new camera at Best Buy and wired it into my new double Din radio.

Thanks Margate- I know I can't wire in the existing camera to the new stereo head unit, and that adding a new camera is an option. I'd just rather keep the existing camera on the existing screen working if I can.
thanks
Chris

IF the Lexus plug differs from the norm camera plug it should not be hard at all to replace it, I cut mine and resoldered it. If I remember correctly there is 3 wires (the outside shielding which is the ground, two wires inside one is positive the other is signal) this should be the same regardless of make or model. I just installed a rear view camera on my RX330 had to cut and reconnect my camera cable

Call Crutchfield's tech support. Those guys are wizards and can how to do it and what you might need.

So you're saying that you cut the wires on the OEM camera and soldered the aftermarket camera on?

No I had to cut the wires on my aftermarket camera when instlaling a new head unit to my RX330 in order to fish it through the rubber snake in the rear hatch. Functionality - power on/off, reverse lines projected are all software in your head unit

Check to see if the factory rear camera connector is an RCA jack, it shold be if so there shouldn't be anything you need to do. If it is something else it may take some soldering to an RCA to the camera end. Below are pics I just took as I had a faulty RCA jack that needed replacing they are only two wires, one inside the other here's how I soldered it
