Default Replacement Fob Shell

2008 RX350 237K

My fob shell shell has broken up. Second one to do so. So I’m now using the concierge key with the broken shell also on my key ring for the remote buttons.

I want to move the key metal & tiny screw and the remote module with the RF ID chip to a new shell.

Seems simple enough but when I’ve tried to replace it before in the end there were some little differences that made the new shell unusable. Can someone please point me to one that for sure will work? I’m beginning to wonder whether there are small differences that Lexus made over the course of production that make what fits for some not work for others.

Bought mine off eBay, worked perfectly it wasn't the OEM one just a cheap Chinese knock-off... Aamzon has them as well I believe

I have been using this for three years and I highly recommend it. Follow the instructions and tighten the screws every six months!

Almost… shell does not close all the way, and cheap-*** screw broke 75% of the way in. At least they refunded me, less shipping and tax.

Sorry, guy. If I could have somehow known that, I would have never posted it.

No prob, it still functions, but there is a .5mm gap at one end. As long as rodents can’t get in…

I bought the cheap Amazon shell but the hole to insert the key is very tight. In order to make it fit and close properly, you will have to shave the end where it seats in the hole. Just grind it a little at a time and test fit. You want it tight but not to tight.

I went through this last year and about to go through this again right now. When I got car the key was in shambles held together with tape. I bought the plastic casing from eBay put my transmitter (the little clear case inside the key) and the blade from the original key this has worked fine. Right now I am ordering a new plastic case with the key blade ($14) from a very reuptable locksmith I know and will have him laser cut the key... this should run me @$20 for the cutting hopefully less. I'll buy a new-to-me transmitter to put into this key and I'll program it with my Techstream. This is all so I have two masters in case I lose or destroy one (almost did the other day leaving it in my pocket going on the river.

Just got my key (the plastic fob with the blade) at https://noblekeysupply.com/

they'll cut it as well. This does NOT include the transmitter inside the key (I just bought that for $15 on eBay) and will program it with my Techstream. So everyone knows the car needs to be programmed for the ignition (Techstream) to start the car also needs to be programmed to open doors (done by a funky procedure but no special tools)... I don't know if Techstream also programs the door buttons I'll find out soon enough
