Hey everyone I was recently in the market to have a new replacement key for my 2007 Lexus ls460. I came across multiple different options with varying prices but here is what I figured out.
The best choice is Dorman key which comes with the programmer which makes it super easy to use. Just follow the instructions and you have a replacement. You still need to get that blade cut. Total cost comes to around $200 with custom key blade
I also found some cheaper options on eBay. You get a custom cut key blade with a remote. In which you need to get the programming done. This deal costs about $120 all together. It uses a different battery size and finishing on metal key part was not smooth or clean.
and last and most expensive choice is from Lexus which charges about $600 with everything. But you also have a choice of getting the remote for about $200 and you can have it programmed and cut somewhere else. That’s about $340 with everything.
but it makes a difference which remote you choose. Here are the pics of different remotes I purchased last month.
I (still) don't have a spare key for my 2008. The problem is that there are quite a few different frequencies going around here in Europe and I have no way to determine the right one. My PCB won't come out the fob without breaking it (the fob that is). I ordered two from AliExpress for about $70 each, but neither is right. Think I'll just take the pain and bring it to the dealer.
I prefer a virginized used OEM key. It will run around $70-100.
Strange I didn’t know u could use them. I do have a key which was given to me by the previous owner which turned out to be used key for some other Lexus. Its key blade was cut different than mine so I just tried to get the remote programmed for my car from some mobile key coder. This guy tried to program it thru obd but couldn’t and told me it can’t be used. I would have to purchase a new virgin key. Hence the post. How do you virginiz it.? Can u plz share some links where can I get virginized OEM key.?

as shown in this post, you can order the Dorman key with the programmer and use it easily.
