Amradio. I looked at your post again. I'm a little confused. I'm sure the rx330 is close to the rx350. So from the rear of car going forward..you have:
rear diff (2x part 12157-10010)
transfer case (2x 12157-10010)
transmission drain plug (1x 90430-A0003)
is this correct? I don't understand where you mention front diff?? I don't think they have one?
thanks
fab
Yup, that's correct. I just mentioned front diff, as some people referred to our cars having a front diff with a separate drain plug. The front diff is essentially attached to our transmission. I didn't have a separate drain plug. Some people did.
Amradio.... okay. So in terms of "Fluid changing" goes, it's just read riff, transfer case and tranny fluid, right? Sorry, it threw me a loop when i reread your post! Hahaha

Yup. That's it, unless you want to do brake fluid, power steering fluid (not sure if the RX350 has power steering fluid), coolant and engine oil.
So torque specs....
36lb/ft for diff and transfer case????
what about tranny pan plug? Same thing or just till tight and a 1/4 turn extra???
also...for the tranny and diff gaskets, i know they have that lip in the centre. Does that lip face the housing (off diff lets say), or, does it face the plug bolt?
thanks

Update....
so tonight i changed out rear diff gear oil. I had enough Castrol synthetic 75w-90 oil.
i need to get another bottle for the front transfer case, but can't seem to find the same brand.
i can find royal purple at around $31.
i've seen Penzoil as well. Any brands that you suggest? Or it's all the same?
thanks

I used Mobil 1 in a squeeze bottle, made it very easy to fill the case no pump needed just a couple foot piece of tubing. With gear oil or brake fluid I've not heard of a compelling reason to spend anymore than neccessary especially since we're not racing
Leeper, i agree about price point. I haven't seen mobil 1 around. I saw tgat Canadian tire has an Extreme performance " line, but seems more for heavy duty vehicles.
napa seems to have their own line as well, but not sure if it's synthetic or not.

Could get it from Amazon. I got mine at Autozone I think have seen it at Walmart. I bought it maybe 4-5 mo's ago but have not seen it in the squeeze packets like I got it in an really liked but really haven't look for it since. Pretty sure O'Reilly's too
Update.....
well, i finished the job. The rear diff wasn't too. Bad to do, the fluid still looked ok.
the transfer case was a hoot! As usual the locations of the plugs is fantastic!
anyways. The fluid was a little dark. I posted on another thread some short sockets i bout that helped with upper fill plug!
i think the next time around, i'll have to change the plugs for transfer case and rear diff.
the transmission drain/fill went very well. Fluid was still a bit red but slightly dark. I decided to go with Valvoline Max Life atf. Had good reviews and cheap at wallyworld.
took it for a short drive. So far shifts well, seems to hold gears well and has a nice "pull" when accelerating. Will see in the next day or two.
question.... i'm not sure what tranny fluid was in there before, and was thinking of doing a second drain/fill soon. How long should i wait to do it? A few days, a week?
thanks

after it's warmed up and driven just a few miles more won't mix/incorporate it anymore you're fine draining it anytime... I'm likely doing the same thing here shortly, wasn't sure what was last in there from previous owner want to make sure it gets flushed well.
Next up up here:
Fuel injector cleaning and seal replacement - will post a tutorial on this
Paint calipers - may do a tutorial on this
Paint rotors with clear paint as I can't stand all the rust/dirt build-up (no I do not paint the contacting part of rotor just the hub portion that worked awesome on my Jag)
X150 convertible, hands down best car I ever owned will get anotherone or a XKR soon. Handled like my Boxster, growled like an angry tiger, comfy as could be, very reliable, never got old looking at it. People always thought it was a new Aston Martin
Calipers - I've used high temp vinyl wrap, brush on paint, now red Rust-O-lium caliper paint. It is far easier than you'd think comes up really nice costs $10 what's not to like. Same as doing a brake pad replacement pretty much. I'll have to wait until the weatherr warms up some before painting though so a late spring project. I really dislike all the dirt and rust on calipers and rotor hubs. If interested I'll do a tutorial for all here.
Leeper...cool cars! I've always been more of the Comfort ride. I like the xj6 and especially the xj8. Plush rides that can move!
but i really do miss my chevy caprice.. :-(( best car i ever had....and my eagle talon too. Hahaa
