Will Swapping U140F Require ECM Flash?
Have a 2002 RX300 AWD with a transmission failure. Prior to pulling the transmission, checked for codes and found nothing but an old stored "center airbag sensor".
installing a used JDM U140F.
Question is will the ECM relearn the new transmission without issues? Or, will the ECM require service before operating the car?
I've seen yes and no on this subject. My trans failure is due to a planetary gear decamping from the rest of the area. The OE transmission was working one hour, then had an odd noise and sudden cease to function. I knew this was gonna happen as the last trans change had two tiny corners of a gear stuck to the magnet. No other metal and fluid not burnt or contaminated.
Any other thoughts or warnings on this swap are quite welcome. I'm not a Lexus mechanic. Retired rice burner mechanic. Mechanically, no problem, but? I have factory SMs. The engine/cradle assembly is ready to drop. Have if out this weekend.
